The Private Ethnographical Museum is a private museum housing the private collection of Professor G.S. Eliades and his wife C. Eliades.

An ethnographical museum such as this one in Pafos, aims to provide a general and more specific picture of man's evolutionary development from prehistoric times to the present days.

The building that houses the collection was designed in 1894 by 2 merchants Efthyvoulos and Evryviades I. Antoniades. Professor Eliades, who in 1939 started to collect material that would finally form the nucleus of a private museum, and his wife fouded the museum in 1958. Mrs. Eliades still lives in the private part of the house.

A tour of the museum starts at the ground floor where we first encounter the villager's room (workshop) and the bedroom where traditional tools and luxury items are on display. A large part of the ground floor is dedicated to the traditional methods of cultivating land.

The room of the Chalcolithic Period houses the initial passion of Professor Eliades: collecting prehistoric, Ptolemeic and Roman local founds.

Outside is a beautiful romantic courtyard with olive mills, an oven, a village fountain, a chapel and tombs dating as early as the 2nd century B.C. the same periode as the famous Tombs of the Kings in Kato Pafos.

The Ethnographical Museum Pafos is not far from the Byzantine Museum and is indicated by signs.
