ROCK CLIMBING TRIPS BOOK A ROCK CLIMBING TRIP £ 20.- P.P.

Throughout the world, climbing is a popular and passionate sport. Cyprus offers a great deal for both the novice and experienced climber alike. Using mainly ancient limestone to climb on, we can cater for all climbing abilities in a setting that offers stunning views and some great rock. Our climbing site, approximately 35 minutes from Pafos is a unique area being a large stadium type limestone structure of about 500 square meters and varying in height from 5 to approximately 50 meters, offering climbs from simple scrambles to extreme grade slabs and over hangs. So whether you don't know one end of a climbing rope from the other or you climb for a living, join us to experience some unforgettable climbing.

Transport to and from the climb site is free. We will provide beginners with a basic understanding of rope handling and climb safety and then will give you the chance to try several climbs of varying difficulty under the instruction of one of our climbing guides. Our climbers will give you guidance on your technique and show you some of the methods used to really improve your confidence on the rock. You will be amazed at what you can achieve.

cyprus sportsMaybe you have climbed before but do not have your own equipment. Well join one of our climbers on a more advanced version of the beginners course. For experienced climbers there are several options. If you bring your own kit, make use of our free climbing location and route service. We will provide you with maps of the best climbing areas and give you all the local information you need to ensure you have some great climbs. We also have some superb bouldering sites that you are free to use.

PRICE £ 20.- per person including all equipment and instruction.

TREKKING: HIGH TROODOS BOOK THE HIGH TROODOS TREKKING £ 16.- P.P.
cyprus sportsLeaving your hotel in Pafos at 8 o'clock we take a winding, scenic drive up to the heights of the Troodos National Park. Our first stop is the excellent Troodos Visitor Center where we show you a short film explaining the geological origins of Cyprus and detailing many of the plants and animals we are likely to see during our day in the park. We then drive on to the summit of Mt. Olympus, the highest part of Cyprus. From here, on a clear day we are able to see the Atlas Mountains in Southern Turkey! The first of the day's two routes starts here on Olympus, a 7 kilometer circular trek around the summit, following the 1800 meter contour. Black and Brutia Pine, rare herbs, ancient Venetian walls, globally important geology and soaring birds of prey are all to be experienced on this trail. Not to mention a constant, stunning view from almost two kilometers above sea level. The trek finishes at the ski club shelter were we have lunch. The afternoon finds us on the trail to the Caledonia Falls. A 5 kilometer linear route winding along a stream bed up to the impressive falls. Take a shower under the falls to freshen up or photograph the rare mountain plants that grow nearby! It's then back to Pafos with a well earned snack on the way.

High Troodos PRICE £ 16.- per person including cold weather clothing (as appropriate), admission to the Troodos Visitor Centre and lunch. Free transport.

TREKKING: AKAMAS TRAILS BOOK THE AKAMAS TRAILS TREKKING £ 16.- P.P.

This two trail day combines the study of past geological events with their effect on today's landscape and environments. We aim to show you for example how ancient sea level changes affect today's agriculture and how previous Ice Ages even affect the landscape in Cyprus today and the types of habitats found here. Our first destination is Cape Lara which plays an important role in the life cycle of the nesting Green and Loggerhead Turtles.

These are an important part of the biology of Lara and we spend time visiting their nesting sites and discussing their interaction with local ecosystems.

The trek continues to the very tip of the cape to look at a series of modern sea caves and the nearby, collapsed, ancient cave remains that we are currently studying. Our final destination here is for a brief look at how tourism affects Lara both positively and negatively.

After lunch, we head to the Avakas Gorge for a 4 kilometer linear trip into the impressive limestone feature at the Southern edge of the Akamas Park. Here we observe giant fruit bats, reptiles, stream flora and erosion processes that shape this landscape. Then time permitting, we visit our friend 'Snake George' to see and learn about all of the reptile species found in Cyprus, including the Blunt Nosed Viper, Chameleon and rare Cyprus Grass Snake.

Akamas PRICE £ 16.- per person including cold weather clothing (as appropriate), safety equipment for the gorge (helmets etc.), admission to the Snake George Reptile Centre, lunch, free transport.

SEA KAYAK TRIPS BOOK A SEA KAYAK TRIP £ 20.- P.P.

Sea caves, limestone stacks, surf, natural rock bridges, rips, reef stranded cargo ships, tiny offshore islands. These are just some of the things we encounter on our sea kayak trips. The south west coast of Cyprus around Pafos is perfect for a canoe trip with a whole range of different features and conditions for every one to enjoy.

Our classic Sea Caves tour is the most popular. We drive a short distance to a secluded natural bay. Here we launch and go through some of the basics for beginners. We need to make sure every body can control their boat safely while having fun so we put you through a series of fun games and challenges to test your boat control and eagerness to get wet! Now the tour can begin. We leave the bay and head along the rocky coast to an area of amazing limestone erosion that has formed stacks and arches that we paddle through and it's here that you can try your luck in the 'Washing Machine' a deceptive rotational current that will have you pointing every direction but forwards! From here we paddle on to the sea caves, an impressive series of wet caves an average of 30 meters long. We paddle right inside about half a dozen of the caves and explore many features. These features give the caves their names, so you can visit 'Jonah', 'Purple Haze', 'Standing Room Only' and 'The Big One', to name a few. These caves are only accessible by kayak so we will have them all to ourselves!

cyprus sportsAfter the caves we head about 1 kilometer off shore to a tiny uninhabited island which sees many interesting sea birds roosting on it's rocky out crops. To see these birds swooping and circling in their natural habitat is something else. Relax afterwards with a swim or some time on the beach.

Our sunset paddle is also very popular. Leaving two hours before the end of day, we paddle along the coast to visit a few of the features explored in our Sea Caves trip. The highlight, though, comes when we paddle around the back of the small island and head further out to sea in a westerly direction. Just before the sun touches the sea we stop, lay back and relax as the sun sets over the Mediterranean. We sit and chat for a while as everybody unwinds with the most beautiful back drop. Then as the last oranges and blues fade from the surface of the calm water, we slowly head back to shore in gentle darkness.

Both kayak trips are suitable for all ages/abilities but are subject to sea/weather conditions.
